We at Jewish Heritage in Lita are deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of our dear friend Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union of the USA, and a passionate champion of the Jewish people.
I grew up with Rabbi Hauer in Montreal, and as soon as I brought the matter of the Piramont cemetery in Shnipishok to his attention some five years ago, he threw all his considerable talents and energies into the campaign to protect our holy site in Vilna. I accredit his efforts in ultimately realizing the erecting of a fence to demarcate the cemetery this past summer. May his memory be blessed.
